We caught up with Fiona King, Jana Mackie, Vannessa Marshall, and Logan Goverman from Interfaith Community Services to learn about the organization’s impact in Carlsbad and the crucial role played by the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation (CCF) in supporting their efforts.

Interfaith Community Services empowers people in need to stabilize and improve their lives through a comprehensive range of programs and services. From emergency shelter and food assistance to job training and addiction recovery, Interfaith takes a tailored approach to meet each individual’s unique needs. The organization’s Carlsbad Service Center is at the forefront of delivering these services directly to the community.

Logan Goverman, a representative from Interfaith, emphasized the significance of CCF’s long-standing support:

“Our Carlsbad Service Center wouldn’t be what it is today without the support of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation. I learned that our Carlsbad Service Center started in a trailer. Now, we have a fully-fledged center with a pantry and two case managers. The support and services we’re able to provide have grown significantly because of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation’s contributions.”

Empowering Vulnerable Youth

One notable example of CCF’s impact is the funding provided during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This support allowed Interfaith to hire an intake specialist at the Carlsbad Service Center, ensuring that individuals in crisis received immediate assistance and were connected to the appropriate resources. The funding also enabled Interfaith to provide on-site case management at Carlsbad High School, supporting vulnerable youth and their families.

A Community Transformed

Thanks to CCF’s grants, Interfaith was able to prevent or quickly reverse homelessness for 38 households, including 114 individuals, in 2021 alone. The organization also distributed emergency food and hygiene kits to 665 Carlsbad residents during the same year. These vital services, made possible by the generosity of CCF and its donors, have had a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals and families in the Carlsbad community.

As Interfaith continues its mission to empower those in need, the ongoing support from the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation remains crucial. By donating to CCF, Carlsbad residents can take pride in knowing that their contributions stay within the community, directly benefiting their neighbors through the tireless efforts of organizations like Interfaith Community Services.

Thanks to the 2021 grant, we provided critical assistance to 38 households, preventing 14 people from homelessness and supporting 665 individuals with essential services in Carlsbad.
